Venue 1.

Retford Hub

10am – 4pm daily

On Cannon Square, Retford Hub (NNATIC) is permanent host to over 140 local artists and artisans and has resident artists Cath Ray, Christine Howard, Rachel Scott, Freya Black & Iona Birch.

The gallery is host to a superb exhibition by Susan Isaac which runs for 6 weeks. The Hub also has exhibitions with significant bodies of work from art group Brushstrokes from Misterton, Retford Life Drawing Class and the Hub’s own Thurday Art Group and Simon Gaddes photography group. All art and craft is for sale. Activities in the gallery.

Library

A few doors down, the venue for talks & workshop.

 

Venue 3

Scout Hut

10am – 4pm daily

Not obvious to locate, tucked behind the Retford Memorials. Home this weekend for the Worksop Art Society together with Richard Sampson – Pyrography, Virginia Hawk and Denise Owen. Virginia is a community arts tutor working in Egypt and London. She will be leading the paper craft workshop on Sun.

 

 

Venue 4.

St Swithun’s Church

10am – 4pm Sat & Mon.

 

Our main Parish Church, please go through the main body of the Church to the Lady chapel where there is work from John Nooth, Christopher Smith-Clayton, Kay Nooth, Helen Lems, Arthur Begg, Chris & Edward Daniels. Book Fair. This is also a venue for talks. Amina Khan-Sly will exhibit on Monday 29th.

 

Venue 5

Harry’s Coffee Shop

10am – 4pm Saturday

 

Opposite the entrance to St Swithun’s, the venue will be again be host to Elda Bowie. Elda is a remarkable person and her personal voyage is encapsulated through her work. Her studies of pebbles and leaves are fascinating.

 

Venue 6

Spencer’s on the Square

10am – 4pm daily

 

 

Onto the main centre of Retford and across the main Square to Spencer’s, historic auctioneers premises. Andy Massey will again be exhibiting his latest works together with Michelle Stainton.

 

 

Venue 7

Methodist Church

10am-4pm daily

Back across the main square and head up Grove Street until just before you meet the ring road. Entry is through the front then into the main church and the room at the back where you will find exhibitions from Pippins Art Group & Sutton Art Group together with work from Mary Pibworth & Richard Sampson.

 

Venue 8

Bassetlaw Museum

10am-4pm Sat

 

The Museum is opposite the Church. With a display of Vintage plastics and the Westhill Art Society.

 

 

 

Venue 9

Bookworm

10am-4pm Sat

 

 

Head back to the square, turn left up Carolgate and left up Spa Lane. A display and information on how to get your book printed and the practicalities of the options available.

 

Venue 10

Swan Studios

10am-4pm daily

 

Home of the thriving Retford Art Society, the studio will host a selection of works from members as well as hosting ‘drop-in workshops’ for children & adults of all ages and ability.

 

Venue 11

Print Ink Co

10am-4pm Sat.

This year we have been running a Retford Tea Towel Competition through the Retford Times, and this is your chance to print your own with a helping hand from Jo Massey, owner of this impressive printing facility.

Bay Tree

The exhibition is upstairs above the Café. Here you will find work from the North Notts Creative Textiles group and an exhibition from Village Art, the art group based in Treswell.

The exhibition of textiles showcases a wide variety of modern ways of working with textile and stitch creating original textural artworks. There is also a children’s activity.

Beside the canal, weather permitting, you’ll find Denise Harrington painting ‘en plein air’. Many will know her from her exquisite pictures of horses, so this is a rare treat.

Grapevine Studios

Mattersey

10am -2pm Sat

Open Studios & Raku Firing. Pre fired tea bowls will be available to purchase and decorate to fire in the Raku kiln.  Chris Campbell & Joy Gibbs-Price (Mattersey) See Open Studios brochure.

Idle Valley

10am-4pm daily

 

Jill Atkinson will be at work at this venue which also hosts an exhibition of artworks by children from St Joseph’s, Carr Hill & Ranskill Primary showcasing the annual Rotary Children’s Art Competition that is hosted in the Hub every year.

Take North Road for approx. 1 mile, on right.
